Please read these terms before creating an account or using a guest workspace. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to them.
01
Acceptance and scope
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and the operator of LaTeX Editor for access to the public website, guest workspace, account services, online editor, project storage, collaboration, compilation, formula tools, and AI-assisted features (together, the “Service”).
If you use the Service for an institution, research group, employer, or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
02
Eligibility and accounts
You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. Users under 16, or a higher age required by local law, may use the Service only with valid authorization from a parent, guardian, school, or other permitted party.
Provide accurate registration information, keep credentials secure, and promptly update material changes. You are responsible for activity through your account unless caused by our breach. Do not share credentials, impersonate another person, or create accounts to bypass restrictions.
03
The Service
LaTeX Editor provides tools for creating, editing, storing, compiling, reviewing, and collaborating on LaTeX projects. Available engines, TeX Live versions, templates, storage, history, collaborator limits, AI tools, and other features may vary by plan, region, configuration, and time.
A guest project may be stored temporarily and can be associated with an account when you register or log in through the offered flow. Guest access is not a substitute for an account, backup, or long-term storage.
04
Your content and permissions
You retain ownership of the source files, text, images, data, comments, and other content you submit (“User Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, copy, transmit, compile, render, back up, and otherwise process User Content only as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the Service or comply with law.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed for User Content and that our processing of it as instructed by you will not violate law or another person’s rights. The license ends when the content is deleted, subject to shared copies, backup cycles, and legal retention.
05
Collaboration and sharing
Project owners control invitations, links, roles, and access. Collaborators may view, copy, edit, comment on, compile, or download content as allowed by their permissions. Review access before sharing confidential or unpublished work.
You are responsible for obtaining coauthor, participant, institution, publisher, and data-subject permissions. We are not responsible for actions taken by a collaborator you authorize, though we may provide access controls and history to help you manage the project.
06
AI-assisted features
AI tools may rewrite text, suggest academic language, generate or recognize formulas, summarize material, explain compile errors, or propose source changes. Outputs can be incomplete, inaccurate, biased, outdated, or unsuitable and may resemble third-party material.
You decide whether to use an output and must review source, citations, equations, authorship, originality, privacy, and compliance before relying on it. AI output is not professional, legal, medical, safety, or publication advice, and availability does not guarantee acceptance by a journal, institution, reviewer, or compiler.
07
Compilation, templates, and third-party material
Compilation results depend on source, packages, engines, TeX Live versions, external resources, time limits, and infrastructure. A project that compiles elsewhere or under another version may not produce the same output. You are responsible for reviewing logs and maintaining exportable copies of important work.
Templates, packages, fonts, bibliography data, integrations, and linked services may be governed by separate licenses or terms. Their inclusion or availability is not an endorsement or a transfer of rights to you.
09
Limits, availability, and changes
We may apply reasonable limits to compilation time, concurrency, project size, storage, traffic, collaborators, AI usage, and other resources. We may queue, reject, or stop work that exceeds limits or threatens stability or security.
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features and perform maintenance. We aim to operate a reliable Service but do not promise uninterrupted access, permanent availability of a feature, or recovery of every file or version. Keep independent backups of important projects.
11
Service and intellectual property rights
Except for User Content and third-party material, the Service, software, interface, branding, and related materials are owned by or licensed to the Service operator and are protected by applicable law. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service; they do not transfer ownership.
Open-source components remain governed by their applicable licenses. If an open-source license conflicts with these Terms for a component, that license controls for that component.
12
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and request account deletion. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, nonpayment where applicable, material or repeated breach, or protection of users and infrastructure.
Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export content or correct a breach, but urgent, unlawful, or high-risk situations may require immediate action. Terms that by their nature should survive will remain effective after termination.
13
Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and that output will compile, be error-free, or meet academic or publication requirements.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LaTeX Editor and those involved in operating the Service will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, publications, research opportunity, revenue, profits, or goodwill arising from the Service.
Any aggregate liability will be limited to the amount you paid for the Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100 if you paid nothing, unless applicable law requires a different result. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited.
15
Applicable law and disputes
Mandatory consumer, privacy, and other protections in your location remain unaffected. Subject to those protections, applicable law and the competent forum will be determined under the governing conflict-of-law and jurisdiction rules.
Before starting formal proceedings, please contact support@latexeditor.com and give us a reasonable opportunity to understand and resolve the concern informally.
